Southeast University, one of the first batch of colleges authorized by the Ministry of Education to set up its own pilot sports teams, currently boasts seven high-level teams including the track&field team, swimming team, basketball team, volleyball team, ping-pong team, orienteering team and shooting team.

In recent years, seven college athletes have met the standard for international master of sports in 10 sports, 20 have been qualified as national masters of sports in 27 sports . Since the founding of 1992, the team has been awarded the President Cup for its outstanding achievement at the National University Games for 6 consecutive years.

Our top-ranked team not only plays a leading role in promoting mass sport activities but also actively engages itself in international exchanges by visiting a wide range of schools including Aichi Institute of Technology, University of Missouri, Stanford University and University of Nevada and by participating in various competitions such as the track&field competition of All American University Games, European Universities Games and World University Games.

As the only university which has been elected the “ National Model Organization for Mass Sports” for 8 consecutive years, Southeast University has been actively implementing the “ Views of the State Council on Developing Youth Sport and Strengthen Youth Physical Fitness’ and carrying forward “the Nationwide Hundreds of Millions of Students’ Sunlight Sports Activities”.  We have established our guiding principles of popularizing all types of sport among students while facilitating the efforts in their specialities for further improvement. Under this principle, students are encouraged to take part in outdoor activities instead of burying themselves in dormitories, classrooms or the library all day long. Besides, we have taken other measures such as engaging students in early morning exercise, offering extracurricular coaching, organizing a variety of sport competitions and supporting students’ sport clubs to make sure that every student takes exercise for at least one hour each day. We will spare no efforts to advocate the idea among students that an hour of exercise a day not only keeps doctors away but also brings happiness and joy.
