In recent years, we have made remarkable achievement in physical education and development. Instead of solely focusing on college public physical education, we have enriched the sports discipline by offering two master degree programs, thus Master of Physical Education and Sports training and Sports Humanistic Sociology.  Having twice won the first prize for Excellent Courses of Jiangsu, our college sport course was also listed among the National Excellent Courses in 2005 and won the first prize for Teaching Achievement in Jiangsu in 2007. And in 2009, the department was elected the Annual Model Organization of mass sports, making SEU the only college to win the honor consecutively for 8 years. At the 9th National University Games, SEU won its 6th “President Cup” Outstanding Achievement Award.

Having relocated to Jiulonghu, the new campus in September, 2006, we step into a new era of college sports undertakings in full flourish. Based on “ College Physical Education”, the national excellent course, guided by sports research and supplemented by physical education and sports-for-all campaigns, we have been working on a student-oriented sports development strategy aiming at better performance at World University Games. Under this strategy, we are committed to bringing up students strong in both mind and body which can better address future challenges, to building a harmonious campus characterized by an advanced, healthy and positive sports culture. Therefore, a comprehensive and muti-level college sports system integrating discipline construction, teacher/staff management and infrastructure development could be established with sport playing a greater role in nurturing innovative talents.
