On the afternoon of December 8, a grand activity was held in our school named Practice Fuxing Road, Youth Creates Glory -- 2018 Southeast University winter sunshine run and celebrating the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up in the campus of Jiulong Lake. Zheng Jiamao, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Southeast University; Ji Min, director of the President's Office; Sun Liling, minister of the Party Committee's Students Affairs Department and director of Students Affairs Division; Yang Wenxie, deputy secretary of the University's Youth League Committee; Wang Qiang, secretary of the general branch of the Department of Physical Education; Cai Xiaobo, director of the Department of Physical Education; and some deputy secretary of the party committee of the department attended the activity. This activity is divided into competition group and fitness group, attracting 24 participating units, nearly 10,000 teachers, students and alumni to participate in the activity, among which the competition group has more than 600 people.
Zheng Jiamao, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the university, participated in the whole race and gave a speech before the event. He pointed out that reform and opening up is a major historical turning point in contemporary China. Under the leadership of the CPC, great changes have taken place in Chinese society in the past 40 years. He hoped that all the teachers and students would bear in mind the hardships, difficulties, risks and challenges of the reform, stay true to their original intention, and forge ahead with a strong body and full spirit in the journey of building a world-class university.
After fierce competition, School of Transportation, School of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Software, School of Network Security, and School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering were ranked top three in the group. Wu Guanhe (School of Transportation), Zhou Lei (mechanical college), Luo Haowei (School of Software); Zhang Jingyi (School of Humanities), Qian Yuxuan (School of Humanities), and Liu Weiyi (School of Transportation) respectively won the top three individual students of the male and female groups. Zhao Qiyu (alumni), Yan Long (general affairs office), Mao Shenghua (Security Office); Xie Yiyi (Alumnus),Shen Rong (School of Transportation) and Wu Mei (Library) were among the top three in teachers group and alumni group.
Winter long-distance running is an annual traditional sports event of Southeast University. This long-distance running event is endowed with the significance of The Times. It has been 40 years since China's reform and opening up. Today, the faculty and student commemorate the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up in this way, aiming to remember history and pass on the spirit of reform and innovation.
